CIX 2024 session will explore how security and AV technologies are becoming more intertwined than ever in a variety of ways.
DENVER — The decision to co-located the 2024 Commercial Integrator Expo (CIX 2024) with CEDIA Expo is an acknowledgement that there’s plenty of crossover between the technologies in the commercial and residential AV worlds. But, that synergy doesn’t stop there.
Perhaps there’s no better example of the convergence of security and AV technologies than Emerald’s decision to bring two of the company’s publications, Commercial Integrator and SSI, under one print-based roof a bit more than a year ago. And CIX 2024 attendees will see some security sprinkled in with their AV this year, in the form of a one-hour panel discussion moderated by group editor Dan Ferrisi.
Ferrisi will ask Josh Cummings, executive vice president of technology at Paladin Technologies, and Lionel Felix, founder and chief revenue officer at CI’s 2023 Integrator of the Year, Felix Media Solutions, questions that highlight how security and AV are more intertwined than ever these days.
Paladin joined the Bosch family in July 2023 in a deal that brought the systems integrator under the global manufacturer’s umbrella, while Felix Media Solutions jumped into the security space last year and has built on that in the year following earning CI’s highest annual honor for a company.
If you’re ready to elevate your integration business, looking to expand your expertise and tap into new revenue streams, this session, slated for 3 p.m. MT on Thursday, Sept. 5 at the Colorado Convention Center, is a must-attend.
As cybersecurity and control rooms become increasingly integral to the pro AV landscape, understanding security integration is essential for integrators and certainly the growth of mass communications offerings and solutions across the education landscape and beyond has security intertwined with AV.
Why Integrators Should Attend This CIX 204 Session
“Commercial Integrator Expo’s conference session has been carefully designed to give integrators, consultants and other industry stakeholders insights into how they can run better, more profitable, more sustainable businesses,” says Ferrisi.
“With this panel exploring the nexus of commercial AV and electronic security, we hope to raise integrators’ consciousness about the extent to which technology trades are coming together, as well as the natural synergies between the AV and security worlds,” he says. “Now might just be the ideal time to go deeper and wider with your existing commercial clients.”
In the CIX 2024 session, “How to Add Security Integration Into Your AV Business,” Ferrisi will ask Cummings and Felix questions about the intentionality AV integrators need to branch into security and vice versa, business considerations, leveling up your capabilities and whether to separate the AV and security integration businesses into divisions or keep them under one roof.
The panelists will also explore where AV integrators should start when they jump into selling security solutions, the phrase “mission critical” when it comes to AV and security, standards, the role of the Internet of Things, recurring revenue opportunities and embracing the challenges from both sides.
