Industry News: Popular Italian Port City Installs New Surveillance System
Italian Port City Imperia Modernizes Video Surveillance
In northwest Italy, located on the Riviera di Ponente, the city of Imperia manages to maintain the ambiance of a small fishing village while accommodating a healthy tourist industry, especially during the summer. But like in every city, there is an element of crime and vandalism.
The city turned to Dallmeier for a video security solution, especially for critical areas, such as access points to the city’s marina. The city previously relied on a video security system with a patchwork network of cameras from various manufacturers.
As part of the solution for Imperia, the different cameras were integrated into a Dallmeier management system, and the surveillance systems for both the city and the marina were unified.
Additional Dallmeier cameras were also added where needed, both single-sensor cameras and ones with multifocal sensor technology. The multifocal sensor cameras provide users with the ability to monitor large areas and long distances, as several lenses and sensors with different focal lengths operate in the same camera. This means that the city can rely on fewer cameras than before while still achieving the same level of surveillance.
City officials have reported positive results with the new surveillance system, including a reduction in the number of critical incidents, according to the mayor, Claudio Scajola.
