Chico State students: free with Wildcat ID card

What to Expect

Day 1 (March 20): Regenerative Cropping Systems
Day 2 (March 21): Regenerative Rangeland Systems

Both days feature:

  • The latest regenerative agriculture techniques and practices
  • Practical learning experiences for farmers and agricultural professionals
  • Collaboration within the regenerative agriculture community
  • Addressing the challenges and opportunities in implementing regenerative practices

Ten continuing education units or CEUs from the American Society of Agronomy are available.

This year’s event will focus on best regenerative practices for row crops and rangeland, said Cynthia Daley, founder and director for the Center for Regenerative Agriculture & Resilient Systems.

She hopes attendees will come away with knowledge and connections to improve soil health through sustainable practices, particularly in times of increasing drought and challenges with water supply.

“We see this event as a shovel-ready way to help improve crop yields and sustain rangelands in ways that preserve and enhance our environmental resources,” she said.

Keynote Speaker: Alejandro Carrillo

A fourth-generation rancher from northern Mexico, Alejandro Carrillo’s keynote is, “Greening the Chihuahuan Desert with Regenerative Grazing Practices.” He has revolutionized cattle ranching in one of the most arid regions on Earth. His innovative techniques have increased productivity while reducing inputs—offering a sustainable model for ranchers everywhere. Alejandro’s keynote will explore:

  • How to work with nature to regenerate land
  • The power of healthy soil and diverse grasslands
  • Smart investments that yield the best return

Carillo will also lead a live rangeland assessment to demonstrate these principles.

Regenerative agriculture is a conservation and rehabilitation approach to food and farming systems. It focuses on topsoil regeneration, increasing biodiversity, improving the water cycle, enhancing ecosystem services, supporting biosequestration, increasing resilience to climate change, and strengthening the health and vitality of farm soil.
